Basic Skin Care Tips

Implementing a skin care routine is an essential part of maintaining healthy and balanced skin. Using a routine that encompasses proper cleansing, moisturizing, exfoliating and protecting the skin from the sun can help to prepare the skin for the future and allow you to put your best face forward. Every person should spend at least five minutes per day working on their skin care routine, as it can make the difference of skin being oily, prone to breakouts or having a healthy balance of oils within the skin. Consider this the next time that you consider skipping the skin care routine because you just can’t seem to find the time in your schedule.

Know what type of skin you have
Determining which type of skin that you have is an essential part of the skin care routine. There are certain ways that you can tell what type of skin that you have simply from examining your face. Is your skin course and shiny? In this case, you are probably suffering from oily skin. If your skin is flaky and prone to dryness than perhaps you are suffering from dry skin. One of the more complex types of skin is combination skin; combination skin means that you have a specific combination of skin that can have both oily and dry features. Combination skin can be the hardest to create a skin care routine for, as it can be difficult to find the right combination of facial products.

Cleanse Your Skin Daily
It is important to cleanse the skin on a daily basis. Most people prefer to cleanse the skin at night as it can remove the toxins from the skin as well as makeup and any other impurities that have been absorbed into the skin. It is important to cleanse the skin daily, but a cleanser should not be used more than once daily as it can dry the skin and lead to the skin becoming irritated and prone to breakouts. If you are prone to breakouts than you should avoid cleansing the skin with harsh cleansers and if you have dry skin you should choose a cream based cleanser to add moisture into the skin.

Use Sunscreen Daily
Sunscreen should be used on a daily basis to ensure that the delicate skin of the face is protected from the harmful rays of the sun. The rays of the sun can cause UV damage which can lead to skin cancer and irritations. Be sure to choose a sunscreen that is made for facial application, as sunscreens made for the body can lead to an excess of oil buildup. Sunscreens often have oil as the base ingredients and therefore should be avoided unless they are made specifically for the face.

Be sure to use sunscreen daily, before leaving your home. It should be applied at least thirty minutes before sun exposure. You can skip this step if there are sunscreens combined with the choice of moisturizer that you apply daily.

Using these tips, you can increase the health of your skin while decreasing the breakouts and the size of the pores. Healthy skin is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and should be looked on as great importance.
